Through private funds, the Pay It Forward Scholarship and Mentoring Program provides a four-year scholarship at California State University, Monterey Bay, to local Monterey County students who are first-generation college students.
Each scholarship recipient is mentored for four years by a community leader who helps the student navigate the challenges of college life. In turn, these students must maintain a four-year graduation track at a 2.5 GPA.
Scholarship recipients also mentor a participant of The First Tee of Monterey County for a minimum of 5 hours. This creates a cycle of local college graduates who are contributing to The First Tee community, even as they study.
