OUR SCHOLARS
Who are they?
Our scholarship recipients are CSUMB students who are graduates of local high schools and have at least a five year connection to the area. Each must be among the first generation in their family to have attended college. Each must also be a legal resident of the United States and nominated by a school counselor or other adult who knows the student well.
The students nominated and selected to apply for a scholarship are screened and interviewed by a selection committee comprised of program mentors. Each year that committee selects a cohort of new recipients based upon the funds available for new scholarships.

This program has been one of my biggest blessings. The financial aspect of the program has helped ensure I had school supplies and books for all my courses with no worry. More importantly, this program has created so many great connections for me and I can never truly express how thankful I am by the gratitude and sincerity shown to me by the people of this program.

To me, the Pay It Forward Scholarship means a lot! It means I can have a much better life than my parents did. I can focus on my studies and not work as much and I can help better my community while serving at The First Tee and mentoring myself. I am more than sure that this scholarship is something I will forever represent even after my four years.
